Bill Collier is a lifelong resident of Ellenville, NY and a fixture in the Ulster County legal community for over 40 years. Presently, he is the Senior Partner of Rourke Collier Law’s Ulster County operations.
Bill earned his Bachelor’s degree at Hamilton College in 1975 and then earned his Juris Doctorate at Albany Law School of Union University (1978) and was admitted to practice law in New York State in 1979. He joined the longstanding and reputable Ulster County firm of Kaiser, Murray & Traficanti in 1979 and was elevated to partner in 1981. Since that time he has been the standard bearer of that firm’s proud legacy under various partnerships over the ensuing years and most recently as Collier and Berger, PLLC. In 2023, the firm’s 90-year legacy was further preserved and extended when Bill partnered with Rourke Law of Liberty, NY to form Rourke Collier Law to ensure that the Ellenville/Ulster County areas legal needs continue to be served.
Bill is a Past President of the Ulster County Bar Association; a former delegate to the House of Delegates NYS Bar Association; a former Village of Ellenville attorney; former board member Ellenville Community Hospital; former board member Ulster Community College Foundation; former board member Ellenville Regional Hospital Foundation; former board member Fantinekill Cemetery Association and a former President Shadowland Artists Inc. (1987-2022).
His practice focuses on Real Estate, Estates, Wills & Trusts, Business Law, Municipal Law. Criminal and other General Practice areas. He serves as the Town Attorney, Town of Wawarsing, since 2002 and previously served as Part Time Assistant District Attorney Ulster County (1979-1984) and Part Time Assistant Public Defender Ulster County (1984-2023).
He is married to his high school sweet heart, Shelley J. (Percoco) Collier and together, they have two children (Erik and Kristen) and seven grandchildren.
